Mr. Masao Suenaga excavated and investigated the
Karako pond when the Route 15 (current Route 24) was constructed.
The excavated wooden agricultural tools revealed that agricultural
society existed in the Yayoi period. 'The chronoloica tablel',which
indicate the relative date of artifacts, was established thanks
to a large volume of excavated potteries. This became the foundation
of studies of the Yayoi period. |

A excavation was conducted when the North Kindergarten
was built. The large moat surrounding the southern part of the village
was found. Casting tools including earthen and stone molds of bell-shaped
bronze vessels. This highlighted the role of the community which
cast bell-shaped bronze vessels.
*By this investigation, it was ascertained that the Site also covered
the Kagi area. Thus, the name of the Site was changed from the Karako
Site to the Karako-Kagi Site. |

A hole for storing acorns early in the Yayoi period
and earthenware shaped chicken head were excavated. |

Five circle moats were found surrounding
western part of the village. Stone sword in the sheath was excavated.
*At this time, the investigation was taken over from Nara Prefectural
Archaeological Institute of Kashihara to Tawaramoto Board of Education.

Unfinished stone knives and rough stone of rhyolite
from Miminashi-yama Mountain in Kashihara were excavated. It ascertains
that stone knives were producted in this site. |

Human bones were excavated from a grave of wooden
coffin. They were examined and found to be the bones of an adult
male with his roots in China. |

The southern border of the vallage was identified.
Pieces of thin bronze pikes and wooden pikes were excavated. |

Four circle moats and piles as bridge piers were
found surrounding southern part of the village. These were assumed
